I haven’t listened to the podcast yet (I reserve listening time for Friday morning), but re The Ad With The Nipples:
When I saw it for the first time, I thought, “Eugh, gross…but I imagine this is what some people must’ve thought when they saw The Ad With The Tongue.” (I wasn’t grossed out by that tongue.)
And if you haven’t seen the ad…
I was grossed out by the ad with the tongue. Not so much because it was a moving tongue but because the tongue was “walking” on the road and the idea of a tongue subsequently being covered with all the grit and filth disgusts me.
Okay, now I’ve listened to the podcast. There’s more info than you’ll care about the ad at Duncan’s TV Ad Land (God, Duncan’s thorough!), and the ad can be seen in much better quality Vividas format at the Australian Mentos site.
Re- Vigorsol – Nipples, having seen the original it seems to work better partly because its in context, but more so becuase its played as a comedy (including dyatronic sound) All that helps, especually the end of the add where he offers the product to the girl (that gets cut in the OZ version)
