YES or NO? Week 2

After your hearty endorsement last week, everyone’s favourite game* returns for a second week, and here’s good news: now you can play Yes Or No at the movies! Simply decide between ‘yes’ or ‘no’ after each trailer screens. For example: Borat, yes; The Santa Clause 3, no. It’s the best thing to happen to the “pre-show program” since imagining that these people are looking at porn!!
*provided that Josh, Ross, Brett, Daniel G, Lyndal, Nigel P, Esther and fourthof5 are “everyone”

Just copy the following, paste it into the comment box, and edit where necessary – even explain why you made your choice if you like!

1) Movie: Wimbledon [8:30pm Fri, 10] – YES or NO
2) Iron Chef America [8:30pm Sat, SBS] – YES or NO
3) The Idol final [7:30pm Sun, 10] – YES or NO
4) The Comic Relief thing [7:30pm Mon, 7] – YES or NO
5) The StarDancers final [7:30pm Tue, 7] – YES or NO
6) The 2006 Glass House Awards For Eksalince [9pm Wed, ABC] – YES or NO
7) Look Who’s Talking [not the movie; 8:30pm Thu, 9] – YES or NO

Boxcutters Episode 62

At Boxcutters we’re all about choice. That’s why from next week you will have the option of listening live on the airwaves or via the more traditional podcast. But more of that later.

This week we take advantage of the old format and luxuriate in the freedom of being able to take our time. There is news, pork, a look at what’s coming our way over summer, the final in out fall line up series, talk of comedies and South Park and the reurn of the old favourite I Don’t Buy It. Plus I say a bunch of stuff nobody agrees with.

CBS has found that offering video downloads increases the audiences for their TV shows

A poll taken by CBS found that over half of the users who streamed CBS shows on the Web had never seen the shows before on TV. According to CBS, the new users then became fans of those shows.

“We’re looking at this as a key change in direction for us now and looking at our programming as dual distribution programming–over the air and on the Internet,” said CBS Corp. research chief David Poltrack.

The CBS poll reinforces the trend towards free, ad supported video downloads and podcasts of television content.

Response to OJ

We talked, this week, about OJ Simpson’s plans to write a book and do a show on “If I’d killed my wife, this is how I’d have done it.”

As much as there’s sure to be insights that might lead to some new examinations to “Find the real killer”, some haven’t been so pleased to hear the news.

Check in the more section to get Fred Goldman’s take (he’s the father of Ron Goldman – one of the victims).

Boxcutters Episode 61

Channel 10 and CBS, SBS and ads, Channel 9 and The Apprentice, Fall and Autumn, Pork and News and Letters to Boxcutters.

This week Marieke Hardy sticks around to keep us company (and ply us with alcohol) for the whole episode. Bless.

Suck it up:

Lights picked up

I am sure there is some sort of clever stupid title I could have used like Lights Burning Bright or something equally witty but the important info is Friday Night Lights has been picked up for the full season.

Good news, good show.

ENORMOUS news…

Channel 10 have picked up a few shows off 9 and will be screening them from next year.

Shows include: Dr Phil, American 60 Minutes stories and most importantly LETTERMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More details in this week’s podcast.

If you liked Frasier . . .

At the risk of exposing my monumentally daggy side. . . (please be gentle with me, fellow boxcutters) Peter Casey, co-creator of Frasier and also writer/producer of Cheers and Wings, was interviewed this morning on ABC Classic FM. The audio is available online for a fortnight.

YouTube (abyo)use: Simpsons Movie Sneak Peak

(Help, Brett, help! Every time I paste the YouTube embed code to just above “Did you notice”, the post updates, but the embed code vanishes! Is it cos I’m not admin?)

In case you missed it, the video of the one-minute-and-forty-seconds (not five minutes!) Simpsons Movie preview is here.

Did you notice:

  • It was rated G – surely the animal cruelty warranted at least a PG?
  • The truck Homer tried to destroy was stopped at a Homer-created “SOP” sign?
