My mum used to record Neighbors onto cassette (pre-VCR), pausing for commercials, and listen to them the next day. That died a death soon after she pressed pause one too many times, recorded all the commercials, and none of the show.

I'm another one who used to watch tapes over and over and over and....

I saw National Lampoon's Vacation a few years ago on DVD and actually got a little annoyed when I didn't get to sing along with "Holiday Ro-o-o-o-o-o-o-ad" at each spot the ads were supposed to go.

"Ed, I am not your ordinary, everyday fool, ok?"

By the way, nice article in the Green Guide on Thursday. Although I thought it was a bit odd that the writer didn't actually say what the show is about, only hinted at it (including the photo which kinda looks like Josh is either trying to stop John dropping the TV on his head or using it as a substitute for going to the gym and lifting weights).

I used to record the TV show themes on a Cassette. I would have many hours fo enjoyment with my friends playing "Guess that TV Show".

Unfortunetly somewhere down the track I lost the one and only cassette I put the recordings on. thank goodness for You Tube. I can now recreate my tape and get back to that many hours of fun.

In a weird bit of synchronicity with two points in the show, I wasn't allowed to watch shows like "The Money or the Gun" or "The Big Gig" when they first started, so I used to record the audio off the radio (weird country frequencies) and listen back to them, interspersed with an old collection of Goon Show tapes. I even edited my own short "greatest Hits" package of Money. Good times. Did Money ever get a DVD release?

I'm now gonna have to go have a look for Wil's ice cream ad.

Actually, to clarify further, I'm fully in the 'one good episode followed by one bad episode' camp. I've personally quite enjoyed a lot of the stuff they've done in the last few weeks, even whilst recognising that it doesn't quite hang together. At this point it's clear that there's just waaay too much plot for the amount of time remaining, even allowing for final double-lengthers (ooh err, guv'na), and it's completely screwed with the shows pacing...

Technically more about "Lost" more than BSG; and about two years out of date, but read "http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=15499" for a pretty good summation of the problems of episodic TV pacing and picking when to end your story arc...

John is utterly on the mark regarding Battlestar Galactica. It was always so obvious that they knew where they were taking it, but about two weeks ago it started to become VERY clear that they haven't a clue.

As much as that bothers me, I admire the approach the showrunners seem to have taken: up-end everything once or twice a year and see what happens. Such a refreshing change from the cautious tightrope-walking of Dexter, but I absolutely do not want to join MordWa in anti-climactic exasperation rehab.

This week's soap-heavy sookfest pulled off a delicious human/cylon theme in about six different ways (which I can't discuss without spoiling anything, obviously), but jesus christ, less crying more dying, PLEASE.

Not to drop the show into complete Nerds-ville, but with 'BSG' ending soon, 'Lost' in the long win-up phase, the 'Soprano's' long gone - What are the great white hopes for TV? Anyone want to take a guess on what the next 4-5 season-long-can't-miss show going to be?Nothing currently in production seems to have the potential for more than two seasons...
Not to be too downbeat with the first comment of the week, but the Brown Age of television seems closer than ever. Thank god for 30 Rock and the Soup.
