Andy Dick

Something we forgot to mention on the show this week – though we did run it in the blog – was the passing of Don Adams – Maxwell Smart.

Australian audiences aren’t generally aware that Get Smart actually returned to the airwaves in the mid-90s. It only ran 7 episodes and didn’t rate particularly well. Don Adams reprised his role as Maxwell Smart but, through the pattern of the most inept workers getting all the promotions, he was the chief of Control. However, he wasn’t the main character in this reincarnation of the classic series. Instead, Andy Dick played Zach Smart – son of Max and 99 – as the main character, and just couldn’t carry the series in the end.

All of that is a roundabout way to introduce something I found with Andy Dick. Check it out here

Listener Feedback

I enjoyed the podcast – looking forward to more. You and Josh are hilarious together. Glad there are others out there gnashing their teeth at the shoddy treatment of late-night TV watchers. But I have one big gripe: I was watching the 7.30 Report that night and I couldn’t stop staring at Kerry O’Brien’s ears. I’ve never noticed them before. It’ll never be the same again! Your fault.

Our Hero / AntiChrist

For our international listeners who would like to follow along:

THIS is Ray Martin, hard hitting, globe trotting journalist turned Midday talk-show host turned miracle diet spruiking tabloid current affairs presenter, but always with that magnificent diastima

And THIS is the young pretender, Eddie “McEverywhere” McGuire, after a couple of beers (on the left)

The Tony that I couldn’t call to mind, who hosts Lateline, is Tony Jones and looks like this:

That’s quite distinct from Tony Eastley

Ep 1: It’s our first show

Hosted by Brett Cropley, Josh Kinal and Ross McQueen, Boxcutters will take you on a tour through the world of television once a week.

While the team likes to think of it as broadcasting on the internet (because of the high ambitions of radio potential) the show will take the form more commonly known as podcasting (a.k.a. computer-magic radio).

Where can you find such a delightful chocolate-box of tasty nougat information about television, what’s on it and how it could be better? Well, we haven’t worked that one out yet.

This week we’re talking about Dancing with the Stars, The Amazing Game (The Mole), Sensible Funerals, MDA, the Green Guide (a reputable TV/media guide in Melbourne), Blue Heelers, Last Man Standing, TV advertising, Raywatch and heaps more.
